Dear god, can baseball hurry the hell up and get here? Not only are writers running out of ways to say a player has shown up in good shape, now we’re discussing a lucky/rehearsed/great/stupid/miraculous play from 2001. 2001!
After Bobby Valentine said that Derek Jeter was out of position and…

A combination of police crackdowns and bad weather are testing the young Occupy movement. But rumors of its demise are premature, to say the least. Although numbers are hard to come by, anecdotal evidence suggests the movement is growing.
As importantly, the movement has already changed the…

The roster of MLB All-Stars headed to Taiwan is led by New York Yankees center fielder Curtis Granderson, who led the Major Leagues in runs scored (136) and ranked second in the Majors with 41 home runs, and his teammate Robinson Cano, who was second in the A.L. with 118 RBI. Detroit Tigers first baseman and American League batting champion (.344) Miguel Cabrera, currently playing in the American League Championship Series, will make the trip subject to his Postseason commitments. The roster also consists of 2011 National League All-Star third baseman Pablo Sandoval of the San Francisco Giants. Giants manager Bruce Bochy, who guided San Francisco to its first World Championship since 1954 in 2010, will manage the MLB All-Stars. Bochy’s coaching staff will be comprised of his current Giants bench coach Ron Wotus, Giants bullpen catcher Billy Hayes, Los Angeles Dodgers pitching coach Rick Honeycutt and Tampa Bay Rays hitting coach Derek Shelton. The remainder of the roster will be announced in the coming weeks.
Pablo Sandoval in Taiwan should be fun.

With the 2011 baseball season over it made me think about 1995.For the first time in their history the Seattle Mariners won the American League West pennant.Born in 1977,the Mariners didn’t even have their first winning season until 1992.Of course, the Mariners only made it as close as the American League Championship Series in 1995,2000,and 2001.(which was also the last time they were in the postseason)Oh well, they say hope springs eternal right?
Taima is the Seattle Seahawks….well,hawk.(An augur hawk to be exact.)I find it amazing how she’s had no problems being in an NFL stadium filled with over 65,000 screaming(and yes, mostly drunk)fans. Here she is during the 9/25/11 game between the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals.
